Varnish is more closely related to a clear ink then to a traditional coating. A flood varnish will cover the entire printed page while a spot varnish allows you to highlight specific areas of your piece and adds shine and depth to specific elements, such as a logo or image. Varnish can be applied in gloss, satin or matte finishes.
